# Coding for Humanities
My name is **Caecilia**. I'm actually a MA student in [theatre studies] (http://theaterwissenschaft.gko.uni-leipzig.de/). I started this second study to improve my researching methods in video game studies, which I've specialized on.
## My Expectations of this Course:
* learning about the coding basics/ methods of Digital Humanities
* learning how to work in groups (- in some kind of way my blind spot)
* broaden my methodical knowledge

### Describing my expectations about this course
I hope I will be able to manage small skills in coding. I think I definitely will sit many hours in front of a screen. And perhaps it will be a little bit of fun, as well.
[So here's a short video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-o2CcUjIP0)
#### Tasks I accomplished in this Markdown File
* Produce a markdown file
* Describe my expectations about this course
* Two headers of different size

## Expectations
I expect this course to be:
* good
* good
* I need more ram
As one can see, expectations are very high and difficult to meet.

I want to....
- learn things i've never heard of before
- gain new skills and knowledge
- work on the project sucessfully
- broaden my horizon as a student of the humanities

### Coding for Humanities
## "My Expectations" by Andreas Madaras
I always wanted to study something related to computer science that focuses on Humanities instead of having a major focus on higher math. 'Major' being the keyword here. I don't hate math. It just is a bit too much in many other bachelor degrees.
Because of this wish i have chosen to enroll inthis course and this is what I expect from it:
* get to know previously unknown applications for coding
* learn Python and R
* refresh my half forgotten knowledge of xml
* still getting credit for this because I just bought a new laptop to do it
also have a [link](https://git.informatik.uni-leipzig.de/introduction-dh/CodingForHumanities1.git) to your own git

- meeting interesting people from all over the world
- learning useful IT knowledge

# Coding for Humanities #
I'm interested in learning how to code.
Additionally, I like that you can choose another subject, which is not directly connected to coding.
## Expectations of Luca Schneider ##
- learn how to code
- practice coding
- participate in interesting projects with interesting people

My name is **Monique Wenta**.
## My Expextations of this Course:
* learning about different coding languages
* to see more Doctor Who gifs and Xkcd comics although the only flaw are the missing tooltips ;) [xkcd comic] (http://www.xkcd.com/)
*to learn more about methods and learn not to make syntax errors
# Hello there folks!
Here comes the *latest submission of all times*. Well, almost.
Here is the **List of my expectations:**
* Learn useful techniques to become more efficient while conducting a reaserch
* Learn R
* Get a hand of Python
* Continue to silently worship the inventor of the font Dr Koentges is using in his presentations
* Enjoy _Doctor Who_ references
* However, I am at great risk in this class: I am at the end of the season 3 at the moment, so it is waaaay too easy for you guys to spoil everything for me. I mean, I can't anticipate what slides will come up and I sort of *have to* look at them...

## My expectations about the course "coding for digital humanities"
#### And a few reasons why I choose this subject
My expectations are small because I dont know so much about computer science. I am interested in it anyway.
The reasons why I choose this subject as my option subject are:
+ I had computer science in high school
+ it was one of my favorite subbjects
+ my core subject is communication and media science and I think digital humanities is more ralated to this than pure computer science

# My expectations for this course
* a relaxed and productive atmosphere
* learning more about how to combine humanities and coding especially considering languages
* learning how to use fitting applications and software for projects
* interesting tasks with practical value

Finally I managed to care for the first Homework. What a success!
## My expectations for Digital Humanities
* get an idea of what is possible with computers
* manage to need less then 8h to create a virtual machine
* publish a computerwritten Shakespear book ...
# Expectations of Felix Linker
## Where I come from
Having studied computer science for 4 semesters and philosophy for about 3 semesters, digital humanities seems like a welcome addition to my "old" courses. I'm *quite* into software development and the classical topics of computer science. I'm working on my own projects such as [for example a system to generate tweets in RDF](https://github.com/felixlinker/TWIG).
## Where I want to go
I plan on studying master of computer science with focus on big data. Therefore I plan to write my bachelor thesis regarding big data or something similar. I'm very interested in artificial intelligence as it is deeply connected to theoretical computer science.
I'd like to learn new things about:
- Text processing
- Process result storing
- Data access for research
All this is related to statistical learning on big data.
